Modern schooling… it’s so backwards

by Michael Lapidakis on February 10, 2009

I don’t get it. Who made it alright for me to pay ten’s of thousands of dollars a year on schooling and have to struggle just to understand the professors. In my four years of college I can honestly say I have had to sit through more classes with profs I couldn’t understand than ones I could. I know being that I am a Computer Engineering student that most of the prof’s are not from this country, and if anything its more upsetting to me as an American then a student, but that’s another rant.  Truth be told all I can do is struggle through these classes, barely learn anything, and if I do learn it then chances are I taught myself.

If you have attented “higher education” at all in the past decade, then you have asked youself this question atleast once, right?

I totally have asked this question. I mean it’s nice and all to have professors from other countries in the academic force, mixing it up and whatnot, but for the love of God teach them how to talk! There’s no point in teaching people if they can’t understand you. TA’s are worse, in my opinion, especially the ones I’ve encountered for my Computer Science classes. Sooooooo unhelpful. Usually took me several tries just to understand what they were saying, never mind what they were talking /about/, which was problematic in of itself. *Shakes head*

Keep it up anyway, all right? (Unless you’ve graduated already, judging by the “four years of college” bit)
