parq.me: A New Chapter Begins

by Michael Lapidakis on April 6, 2009

Its official. My quest to form my first start-up has began. Today I purchased a domain name and signed up for a hosting solution over at Media Temple to host my senior capstone’s group project. Without giving away too many details, the site will be a place people can go to to find parking solutions around a specific location. All things considered the site is coming along quiet well, with some minor issues but nothing huge.

Setting up the storage at Media Temple was a breeze, the only issue right now is the potential that the mail servers didn’t propagate correctly, but I may not know for a few hours now. The service is pretty nice, with a great admin panel and some nice features, but I guess that’s what you get for the price. When looking for a hosting company, Media Temples features along with services where unmatched.

The plan is to get a smooth working website up an running by month end, then begin looking for funding after the expo on May 4th. In this economy it wont be easy, but I think if the final production site is anything like what my group and I have discussed on paper, we should have a rock solid product when the time of the expo rolls around.

I hope to have a site blog setup soon, I’ll be sure to post the link here. We don’t plan on deploying too much of the site quiet yet, so hold in there, an alpha version will (hopefully) be active by month end.
